Since our inception in 1937 the Foundation has devoted itself to securing the future of Chautauqua. Initially and for most of our existence that effort was focused on raising permanent endowment whose income could provide growing support for the programmatic and facility needs of the Institution. In the early 90s that focus was expanded to include a collaborative delivery of all philanthropic support including annual giving, grants, and capital improvements as well as the continued expansion of endowment resources. The success of this corporate strategy is evident throughout Chautauquas grounds and in the breadth and depth of its programs.

The Institution needs our delivery of planned philanthropic support for its current years operation, and also our delivery of resources pointedly designed to enable the future envisioned by its strategic plan. This support arrives from 4 distinct giving vehicles: annual support, capital and other support, endowment support, and deferred giving support.

Our continued success in meeting our objectives will depend on your faith in the value of Chautauqua in your lives. It also depends on your faith and trust in the Foundation. We are dedicated to earning and keeping that trust.
